Collaboration

Academic, clinical, and industry partnerships with the TEMPO@UVA Laboratory.

The TEMPO@UVA Laboratory actively engages in collaborative research with investigators across academic institutions, clinical partners, and industry. Our multidisciplinary approach — spanning mitochondrial bioenergetics, non-invasive physiological measurement, and translational exercise trials — suits projects that require rigorous physiological phenotyping in humans or bench-level bioenergetic measurement.

What we offer

High-Resolution Respirometry

Oroboros O2k and NextGen O2k with fluorometry. SUIT protocols for permeabilized fibers and isolated mitochondria — skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, adipose, PBMCs, T-cells, and more.

In Vivo NIRS Assessments

The used of NIRS based oxygen sensors to measure muscle oxidative capacity and reoxygenation kinetics.

Human Physiology Testing

CPET with metabolic cart, isokinetic dynamometry, DXA body composition, resting energy expenditure — protocols built for randomized and longitudinal designs.

Analytical & Statistical Support

Mixed-effects longitudinal modeling, AUC calculations, and reproducible research pipelines.

Grant collaborations: Dr. Irving is available to serve as Co-Investigator, Sub-Award PI, or consultant on federal and foundation applications. Please allow at least 8 weeks of lead time before the sponsor deadline for meaningful integration into the project.
